How to Execute the Cable Crossover Fly

Set cable pulleys at head height and attach single D-handles. Grasp handles with an overhand grip, step forward into a staggered stance, and lean slightly forward from hips.

Step-by-Step Execution Guide

1

Set cable pulleys at head height and attach single D-handles.

2

Grasp handles with an overhand grip, step forward into a staggered stance, and lean slightly forward from hips.

3

Maintain a slight 10-degree soft bend in elbows throughout the motion.

4

Bring hands together in a hugging motion, crossing wrists slightly at the front for peak squeeze.

5

Slowly open arms wide until chest stretches fully, keeping ribcage high.

Common Mistakes & Form Fixes

Transforming the fly into a pressing movement by bending and straightening elbows excessively.

Using aggressive torso swinging to initiate the rep.

Biomechanical Safety & Injury Warning

Keep movement controlled to avoid anterior shoulder capsule strain.

Alternative Exercises & Swaps

If the equipment is occupied or you need a joint-friendly variation, substitute with these approved movements:
